Why do great leaders advise to listen more and talk less?
I have met many CEOs and CXOs in my life, and if I ask them to give the younger generation advice, most say that ‘listen more and talk less,’ but why?
Because people will forget your actions, but they will never forget how you made them feel.
Being a leader for so many years, I have learned how to have a conversation with a person that will make them feel valued. You can also do that by:
👉 Asking open-ended questions, resisting the urge to jump into fixing things.
👉 Asking questions brings clarity to ensure you both are on the same page.
👉 Vocalize that you care and are always available to guide or help them.
By doing this, you can establish trust in your relationship and move forward to help them.
But you must remember that only some people need your help.
Instead of solving their problem, ask how you can best support them.
Take your time to build and maintain trust.
