Are you negotiating or compromising? When trying to bring two or more parties to a mutual agreement, this is a question one must ask themselves. There are often situations when you make a decision that sounds like negotiation is a compromise for both parties. This will damage your work relationships in the longer run. Negotiation can be a little easier if you keep these factors in mind: 👉 Work to get a mutual agreement by analyzing the differences between both parties' mindsets, principles, and values. 👉 Look for the various options rather than two or three solutions and then customize the solution according to the principles of both parties. Another aspect is to let them know how important their contribution is—the sense of creating something impactful matters a lot. When negotiating, you should always strive for a win-win situation for yourself and the other party, not a compromise that leaves everyone unhappy. What are your thoughts on this?
