Business Technology Consulting, What top Indian IT companies miss.
Do you know that India’s IT industry expect $100 billion in renewals from outsourcing contracts in 2016-17, reports ISG advisory firm? When the IT growth rate has sunk in the country, these stats are forthcoming and welcoming.
We are not seeing much of high contract deals happening, and it needs a thorough contemplation from technologists, thinkers and industry leaders who chose to trail behind and become laggards.
Running a business is no more a secure job with competition rising every day from different corners of the world. Indian enterprises should befriend technology and achieve what companies couldn’t do previously. It can be increasing workforce, going global, inventing a new product chain or coming up with a new function entirely. It depends on how far a company can visualize and realize its vision regarding growth, profits, and reach.
Unfortunately, the namesake leaders of IT aka Software Industry of India still adopts a sluggish attitude concerning fostering change.
Just like doctors, these Indian IT consulting companies don’t take their own advice and don’t tell you what they’d do in your position. They advise and boast of advancements on their website, but when it comes to adopting the automation route, they choose to take a detour.
One of the major IT software giants in silicon capital of India, Bangalore is repeating the history by trying to reinvent the wheel.
A Global leader who is hailed as next-gen service provider in consulting, technology, outsourcing business don't even use 50 percent of the enterprise software adopted. Companies on one side talk about predictive stuff and on other, ask end users to do menial tasks of filling forms or making website submissions.
This enterprise, which I am speaking about, loves doing blue sky research and don’t take decisions swiftly. It is coming from my experience talking with them over a year.
Organization is more interested in hiring a lot of people rather doing resource utilization which puts a financial burden on the company. The company is lacking innovation; the past track record is evident of that, sticking only to financial sector. The World needs not only services but an amalgamation of new tools with them. Organizational leaders lack in taking risks and decisions on time, resulting in underutilization of resources. Company is not interested to focus on retention and employee satisfaction as well.
Let’s take Recruitment for example. This IT company coined as leader holds an office of more than 70 plus staff to punch data on sheets whereas, in market, it sells the same solution to a different set of customers in the name of automation.
Companies have to deduce operational value from processes, which leaders in this field is already doing like IBM and Accenture. Very small focus on India and emerging markets, the growth engines of today.
Sporadic approach and narrow vision will not excite people to be associated for long. The feedback on popular site like Glassdoor about them reads, filling the forms on the website is much frustrating, and it should be updated.
Secondly, on website users are asked to fill forms which look silly when we have options to log in via Facebook or LinkedIn on employment sites today. When a small plugin can do zillions of things for you, why on the world you won’t do it. It reflects sheer hypocrisy on the part of company who represents to bring digital revolution in the country.
The big reason is attitude when big enterprise doesn’t take the small players seriously. They are ready to pay for a software which is not even 50 percent utilized and spend thousands of dollars in bills but not for a specialized service which costs to them, just a fraction and empowers them with a unique niche or a trait.
There’s a tremendous potential for add-ons to do when it comes to enterprise suite. You can make one arm of the software super-strong and effective, focusing specifically on a certain process that is rarely achievable in other softwares.
IT enterprises should team up with the small players and leverage their offerings to make it unique and useful at the same time in Industry. You save time, and you save money with enhanced efficiency, which is rarely the case with Enterprise Suite software. Today businesses like Uber and AirBnB is soaring high because of simple yet fast experience. We should bring exactly the same to enterprises.
India has raked in huge amount of investments in technology for 2016. The vision of our prime minister supports technology. Today, nobody likes to go for a job interview without doing an internet research about the company, and then we ask applicants to wait for us while filling forms; unnecessary and too demanding.
Why to choose an enterprise suit when it can’t reduce your workload and only adds more cost.
Seriously, why?
The answer lies in the distinct approach towards small players and doubting their technological competence. Companies are hesitant to adopt new tools or add-ons in existing systems that lead to the death of innovation and change in processes that lefts the end user in dizzy as well.
Companies should rather be a trendsetter and follow paths which are not followed that often or tread.
Talent Management can realize its true potential when companies understand the importance of technology in recruitment and what automation can do to their output.
Indian Enterprises can truly be part of visionary make in India campaign and contribute to the growth of the country, if they hire right, straight from the start when candidates submit a CV.
